ABOUT US

Our Mission ... Our Vision ... Our Purpose ... not I but CHRIST

When one hears the name "New Horizons" it brings to mind the opportunities that come with a new day.  A new day offers a fresh start, and maybe even a different direction.  While the second half of the name is infinitely more important than the first, we are honored to be identified with Jesus Christ and His church, we are also honored to be a family of Christ followers that are on a new journey together, encouraging each other in a new direction.  If you're reading this, we are praying for you.  No matter what roads you've traveled in the past, you are welcome at NHCC.

WHY WE EXIST

We exist to exalt the Most High God and His Son, Jesus Christ, to seek and save those people who are outside Christ, to build up those Christians who are in the Body of Christ and to equip them for Christian service.

Simply put...  To be a reflection of Christ!

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

--Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The following statements are not creeds that we demand every church member accept, but an expression of the basic beliefs held by the leadership of New Horizons Christian Church based upon the teachings in the Bible, the Word of God. Members of this congregation generally accept all these beliefs. However, all members of New Horizons Christian Church have made a public statement of their faith in Jesus Christ as God’s Son and their Savior and they have obeyed Christ in Christian baptism.

  • We believe Jesus is the Christ (Messiah), the one and only true Son of God. - Matthew 16:16

  • We believe that while on earth He was fully God and fully human. - John 1:14

  • We believe salvation from sin is found in Jesus Christ alone, through His atoning death on the cross and His victorious resurrection from the dead. - John 14:6

  • We believe that everyone who receives salvation does so by God’s grace and mercy, not by works that might attempt to merit salvation. - Ephesians 2:4-9

  • We believe that followers of Christ must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, that they must repent of their sin (turn from the old life), and that they must be baptized into Christ (immersed in water) for the forgiveness of their sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. - Acts 2:38

  • We believe that baptism is not a work to achieve salvation, but an act of obedience to God and the means by which God has designed for our sins to be washed away. - Acts 22:16

  • We believe the Bible is God’s Word, complete and inerrant (without error) in its original form. We believe every account in the Bible is true and factual as written. - Psalm 33:4

  • We believe the message of the Bible is non-discriminatory and is for all people.

  • We believe in the triune God (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit), revealed in three distinct Persons, but all are One. - Matthew 3:16-17

  • We believe there is only one true church of Christ, universal and eternal, but represented by local congregations of believers. - Matthew 16:18

  • We believe that Christ wants unity in His church based on a common faith in Him and a common acceptance of the truth that is presented in the Bible—one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God, who is Father of all. - Ephesians 4:4-6

  • We deplore man-made divisions in the church, and we seek to heal them by following the teachings of the Bible and living a loving Christian life. - 1 Corinthians 12:25

  • We observe Communion as an ongoing and consistent act of worship for all believers and remember His sacrifice. - Acts 2:42; 20:7
